Ingredients

  • 42 ounces of strawberry pie fillin'
  • 8 ounces of cream cheese all nice and softened
  • A quarter cup of sour cream
  • Half a cup of powdered sugar
  • A teaspoon of good ol' vanilla extract
  • 15.25 ounces of white cake mix
  • And a whole cup of cold salted butter don't ya dare let it melt!

Instructions

  • First things first, preheat that oven of yours to a toasty 350°F.
  • Take your trusty 9x13-inch baking dish and spread that luscious strawberry filling all across the bottom. Give it a nice, even layer.
  • In a good ol' medium-sized bowl, grab that hand mixer and start mixin'. Combine the cream cheese, sour cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Keep mixin' until it's smooth and all nicely blended together.
  • Now, it's time for some dollops of creamy goodness. Drop spoonfuls of that cream cheese mixture right on top of the strawberry filling. Get 'em spread out nice and even.
  • It's cake mix time, partner! Sprinkle that white cake mix all over the cream cheese and strawberry layers. Make sure you cover 'em up real good.
  • Grab some cold salted butter and slice it up into thin pats. Spread those butter pats all over the top of that dry cake mix. Cover as much of it as you can. Cold butter works best for slicin' and keepin' those pats nice and square.
  • Now, it's time to let that beauty bake. Pop that dish in the oven and let it work its magic for about 40 minutes. Keep an eye out for the topping to turn a nice golden brown and the strawberry filling to start bubblin' around the edges. That's when you'll know it's done.
  • Patience is key here, folks. Let the dump cake rest for a solid 15 minutes before you dig in and serve it up. This'll give all those flavors a chance to settle and meld together.
