And you cannot always go out for delicious desserts and treats so this was an easy option to satisfy my cravings. The chewy caramel with a sprinkle of sea salt is going to be your new favorite and the best thing to serve everyone.
Why are my caramels too soft?
If your caramels are too soft then the temperature was not set right. You must make sure that you let it heat for the exact time. Do not take much time stirring as there is a chain process happening when the caramels are heating up. Make sure to brush some butter on the sides of the bowl and make sure to get it out when the mixture is making bubbles.
How much time my caramels will take to harden?
The cooling time is around 20-30 minutes for the caramels but you should let them cool in the refrigerator for 2-3 hours at least. If still, you think it is a little soft put it in the freezer for 1 hour, and then it will be hardened.
Why my caramels are sticky?
Commonly, caramels can get way too sticky sometimes. But you should know that homemade is sticky unless you give them some time to cool. If still, they are a lot sticky then make sure to coat them in powdered sugar or cocoa powder. It will help you and the caramel will not stick just like we make the delicious chocolate and vanilla truffles.
Can the homemade caramels crystalize?
Of course, it can crystalize because the sugar is boiling. It starts to form into crystals because we are stirring the mixture. Check out the recipe we have shared, try it and you will get amazing results from it.

By Karo syrup, do you mean the dark or light corn syrup? And by “condensed milk”, do you mean SWEETENED condensed milk or evaporated milk? I may try this if these questions can be answered.
I worked the Biz for approx 30yrs
What kind of karo syrup?
What wattage is your microwave? Mine is 700 watts so how long do I cook them?
By condensed milk do you mean sweetened condensed milk or do you mean evaporated milk? Thanks
Hi! For the Six Minute Caramels recipe, I’m referring to sweetened condensed milk. It gives the caramels that rich, creamy texture and sweetness. Make sure not to use evaporated milk as it’s a different product and won’t yield the same results. Happy caramel-making!
