Apple Fritter Bread Recipe

Ingredients:

Cinnamon Apple Filling

  • 2 apples, peeled & chopped
  • 2 Tbsp dark brown sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon

Cinnamon Sugar Coating

  • 1/2 cup dark brown sugar
  • 2 tsp cinnamon

Bread

  • 1/2 cup butter, room temperature
  • 2/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1/3 cup sour cream (or yogurt)

Cinnamon Glaze

  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 Tbsp milk
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Line a loaf pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a small bowl, mix chopped apples, 2 Tbsp brown sugar and 1 tsp cinnamon. Set aside.
  3. In another bowl, combine 1/2 cup brown sugar and 2 tsp cinnamon. Set aside.
  4. Using a mixer, cream butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs and vanilla.
  5. In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder and salt. Add half of dry ingredients to wet ingredients and mix. Then add milk and sour cream and mix again. Finally add remaining dry ingredients and mix just until combined.
  6. Spread half the batter into prepared pan. Top with half the cinnamon apple mixture and half the cinnamon sugar mixture.
  7. Spread remaining batter over top and top with remaining apple mixture and cinnamon sugar.
  8. Bake 40-45 minutes until bread is golden brown. Let cool completely.
  9. For glaze, whisk powdered sugar, milk, vanilla and salt until smooth. Drizzle over cooled bread.
