The Ultimate Flavor Mashup

Talk about a decadent dream come true! These swirl cookies brilliantly unite two iconic dessert flavors into one amazingly tasty package. Let’s break down what makes this combo so incredibly mouthwatering:

The Brownie: You get all the intense rich chocolate flavor you crave, thanks to luxurious cocoa powder and indulgent chocolate chips. This brownie dough is divinely fudgy and delivers that perfect level of chocolate intensity.

The Peanut Butter: Velvety smooth peanut butter adds the most luscious, nutty-sweet creaminess to contrast the chocolate. With its irresistible roasted peanutty essence, this dough is straight-up peanut butter perfection.

Swirled together, you get a marbled masterpiece where decadent fudgy swirls meet luscious peanut butter ribbons in every sumptuous bite. It’s the ultimate flavor mashup that’ll have you weak in the knees!

Baking Tips for Swirl Success

Achieving that gorgeous spiral of peanut butter and chocolate is easier than you think with these helpful tips:

Perfect Dough Consistency: Both doughs should be on the thicker side, but still plenty soft and scoopable. This ensures clean, distinct swirls. Room temperature butter and eggs are key.

Dolloping Method: Scoop dough balls directly next to each other on the baking sheet, barely touching. Gently swirl them together with a toothpick or skewer for an artful marbled pattern.

Avoid Overmixing: You want to keep that swirled pattern, so don’t overwork the dough when combining. Just a few swirls is plenty!

Precise Portions: A cookie scoop ensures perfectly even dough balls so every cookie turns out stunning with swirled symmetry.

Visual Doneness Cues: Check for lightly crackly tops and just barely set edges. The centers will continue baking on the hot sheet to achieve that mouthwatering molten middle.

Peanut Butter Bliss for All

No need to leave anyone out of the indulgent fun! It’s easy to adapt these swirl cookies for different dietary needs:

Gluten-Free: Swap the regular flour for your favorite gluten-free baking blend.

Dairy-Free: Use dairy-free butter, milk and chocolate to make them dairy-free.

Vegan: Choose certified vegan butter, milk and chocolate to make them 100% plant-based perfection.

Refined Sugar-Free: Trade the white sugar for coconut sugar or sugar substitute.

However you make them, you’re going to fall head over heels for these insanely good peanut butter brownie swirl cookies. Bake up a batch and get ready for ooey, gooey, swirled up bliss!

Instructions

  • Make the peanut butter dough: In a bowl, beat the peanut butter, butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg and vanilla. In a separate bowl, whisk the flour, baking soda and salt. Gradually mix into the wet ingredients until just combined.
  • Make the brownie dough: Whisk together the melted butter and white sugar. Beat in the cocoa powder until smooth, then the egg and vanilla. Fold in the flour, baking powder, salt and chocolate chips until no dry streaks remain.
  • Chill both doughs for 30 minutes. Scoop 1-2 tbsp portions of each dough and place side by side on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Use a toothpick or skewer to gently swirl the doughs together in a marble pattern.
  • Bake at 350°F for 9-11 minutes, until the tops are lightly crackly and the edges are just set. The centers will still be quite soft.
  • Allow to cool on the baking sheet for 5-10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely. Enjoy!

Make it gluten-free by using a 1:1 gluten-free flour blend. For dairy-free, use vegan butter and dairy-free milk. For a vegan version, choose certified vegan butter, milk and chocolate.

While I love the concept of this cookie, doing a “ swirl” was pretty much impossible. I rolled each dough together and then twisted

    • Janet

Thanks for your feedback! Your rolling and twisting method sounds like a smart adaptation. Swirling can be tricky, so it’s great you found a way that works. How did the cookies taste? I hope they were still delicious despite the change in technique!

Just wondering if I can swap out almond butter for the peanut butter? My grandsons are allergic to peanuts. Thanks

    • Janet

Absolutely! You can swap almond butter for the peanut butter in this recipe. It’s a great alternative for your grandsons with peanut allergies. The cookies should still turn out delicious, though the flavor will be slightly different – more mild and nutty. You might need to chill the dough a bit longer since almond butter can be runnier than peanut butter. This substitution shouldn’t affect the overall texture or baking time significantly. Just make sure to use a smooth, creamy almond butter for best results. Let me know how they turn out if you give it a try!

Love this recipe but will not print in its entirety. Ad is covering ingredients in this recipe and some of the others. If people don’t catch the missing ingredients that don’t print, the recipe will never turn out properly. And we sure don’t want to miss out on the delicious end goodness. Thanks, hope you can correct.

These have potential I also had issues swirling them, wondering if you could do a video!! That would help wonders. Not sure what went wrong with mine but my peanut butter dough turned into a cake texture.. and my brownie mix was super soft not able to go into a ball.. that’s never happened to me before I followed every step

    Couldn’t swirl the doughs.
Any suggestions as to why they wouldn’t swirl?
Ended up just mixing doughs together. But the flavor was good.

  10. Cindy

Do you think you could make a video of how to swirl the cookies. Like others, I had a difficult time with attempting to swirl. I had to use the smuch method. Wanted to make them an addition to my candy plate for Christmas.

    Thanks.
