Apple Butter

Ingredients

  • Six apples Granny Smith, or other variety
  • 1 ½ cups apple cider or apple juice
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • ¾ tsp. cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp. Ground nutmeg
  • ¼ tsp. Allspice
  • ¼ tsp. Ground cloves
  • ¼ tsp. salt

Instructions

  • Peel, core, and dice apples and then add to slow cooker. Pour in cider/juice, sugar, and spices.
  • Cook on high until bubbly and then reduce heat to low and cook 6-8 hours, stirring every hour. When done, the apple butter will have thickened and been a deep brown color. 3. For a smooth texture, use an immersion blender to break down any remaining chunks of apple.
  • Store in refrigerator for up to 1 month.
