Ingredients

  • Flour half cup
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Egg 1
  • Mozzarella string cheese sticks 12 You can double the recipe for making more
  • Milk 2 tbsp
  • Vegetable oil that you can use for frying
  • Marinara sauce The recipe is below for that too
  • Red pepper flakes optional
  • Breadcrumbs half cup
  • Parmesan grated 2 tbsp
  • Basil oregano, parsley, thyme, garlic powder half tsp

Marinara sauce ingredients:

  • Pinch of red pepper
  • Salt to taste
  • Oregano and basil half tsp
  • 2 cloves garlic chopped
  • Olive oil 1 tbsp
  • Crushed tomatoes 6 You can use tomato sauce as well

Instructions

  • On a baking sheet add parchment paper while you are preparing the other ingredients.
  • In a bowl, add flour, salt, and pepper. Take another and mix the milk and eggs.
  • Add the breadcrumbs to another bowl and add the thyme, basil, parsley, parmesan, garlic powder, oregano, and red pepper flakes.
  • Pick one cheese string at a time and dip in the flour first, then the egg mixture, and in the end dip in the breadcrumbs. Repeat this process at every step and make sure to put them gently on the baking sheet.
  • Freeze them for 1-2 hours. Take a skillet and add oil according to your need. When the temperature is around 350 degrees add the sticks in small batches. Cook them on high flame to achieve the golden-brown color and the crispy texture.
  • You can sprinkle some sea salt or red chili flakes on them. I sure like to eat with a marinara sauce which I am sharing with you below. Hope you like this recipe with this amazing and yummy sauce.

Marinara sauce recipe:

  • Heat the oil in a saucepan or pot. The flame should be medium and add the garlic cloves. Cook for 1-2 minutes and then add the other ingredients one by one. Let it cook for 10-15 minutes while you are stirring the sauce after 5-10 minutes. You are going to love this, especially with the fried mozzarella cheese sticks recipe I just shared above.

Notes

  • You can use Italian seasoning if you don’t want to add the basil, thyme, and all the other ingredients. 2 tbsp of Italian mix will provide the same results to your dish.
  • Serve the dish as soon as they are fried. You will like them hot and fresh not when they are cold. You can put them in breadcrumbs and store them in the freezer for 3-4 days. So, you can make ahead for being prepared for your relatives or holidays. It is no doubt a perfect recipe, especially for children.
