My main go-to ingredients always include oatmeal when it comes to a healthy choice of cookies. Nothing is healthier and satisfying than these low-calorie oatmeal’s filled with nutrients. These are wholesome cookies, and if you like oats, you are in for a treat.

Secrets to cooking the best healthy cookies

It is a traditional recipe in our family that has been passed on to the younger generations. Some tricks I learned from my mother, and the main thing was an ingredient. Apple sauce is essential in this recipe, so I have replaced butter with it. You might find some recipes online where butter is recommended, but applesauce is much better for moist cookies without extra fat.

Also, you can replace sugar or dark chocolates with honey. It is your call, but if you have kids at home, I do recommend the chocolate chunks. So they can enjoy a lovely combination of healthy cookies. I am using raisins in this recipe, but you can use any nuts. Even the nuts are optional if you do not want to add them. Raisins add a crunchy and chunky taste to the cookies, enhancing the flavor.

How to freeze healthy cookies?

It is a freezer-friendly recipe, so you can always make it in bulk and enjoy whenever you like. Of course, you never know that you might crave these cookies at night. So, instead of doing the whole process again, you can bake them all and store them in an airtight container when you want to eat them; just microwave for 20 seconds.

You can also make the batch and make small balls of cookie dough. Freeze the balls and bake them whenever you want to serve them hot and fresh. If you have guests coming over, it is always recommended to make these fresh.

Can you eat healthy cookies for weight loss?

Yes, you can. You can enjoy one cookie whenever you crave something sweet. It is entirely healthy and less in calories compared to the other cookies. You can also emit the chocolate chunks to ensure it does not affect your diet.

Can I use maple syrup?

Yes, you can. But I would recommend still adding 1 tbsp of apple sauce to keep the cookies moist and perfectly balanced during baking.

I made these cookies, but used dried cranberries instead of raisins, and dark chocolate chips rather than chocolate chunks. They turned out great! Some people in our family don’t like nuts, so I omitted nuts. But these cookies are a great hit with our family!!
