The pizza burger pie recipe

The Pizza Burger Pie is a delicious combination of a pizza and a burger, made with a mixture of all-purpose flour, yeast, sugar, sour cream, water, shortening, and an egg for the crust and filled with ground beef, salt, pepper, minced onion, Italian seasoning, tomato paste, and mushrooms. Baked until light golden brown, this dish is a fun twist on two classic dishes.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb lean ground beef at least 80% lean for best flavor
  • 1 large onion finely chopped
  • A pinch of salt approx. 1/2 teaspoon, but adjust to taste
  • 1 cup of rich shredded Cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup Original Bisquick™️ mix This is the magic ingredient that brings everything together!
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 fresh eggs

Instructions

  • Prep Time: Begin by preheating your oven to a warm 400°F. As it heats up, lightly spray a 9-inch glass pie plate with non-stick cooking spray to ensure a smooth release later.
  • The Savory Filling: Over medium heat, take a 10-inch skillet and cook your ground beef and chopped onion. This should take about 8-10 minutes. The key is to stir occasionally to ensure even cooking and to make sure that the beef turns a delectable brown color. Once done, ensure to drain any excess oil. Mix in your salt for that added flavor and spread this mixture uniformly in your prepped pie plate.
  • Cheese! Because Why Not: Take your shredded cheddar cheese and sprinkle it over your beef and onion mixture. This will give your pie that oozy, melty texture that we all love.
  • The Grand Finale: In a separate bowl, combine the Bisquick™️ mix, fresh milk, and eggs. A simple fork or wire whisk is perfect for blending these ingredients together. Once you achieve a smooth consistency, pour this mixture over the contents of the pie plate.
  • Baking to Perfection: Pop your pie into the oven and let it bake for approximately 25 minutes. You'll know it's ready when you can insert a knife into the center and it comes out clean.
