Ingredients
  

  • 1/3 cup cornstarch
  • 1 1/2 cup flour
  • 2 teaspoons garlic minced
  • 2 teaspoons paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons pepper
  • 12 ounce beer
  • 4 Vidalia onions or other large sweet onion
  • 2 cups flour
  • 4 teaspoons paprika
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees F.
  2. Prepare a large bowl with the cornstarch, 1 1/2 cups flour, minced garlic, paprika, salt, and pepper. Whisk together until combined.
  3. Pour the beer into the bowl and whisk until the flour and beer are fully incorporated and the batter is smooth.
  4. Peel the onions and cut them into quarters.
  5. In a separate bowl, mix together the 2 cups of flour, 4 teaspoons paprika, 2 teaspoons garlic powder, 1/2 teaspoon pepper, and 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper.
  6. Dip each onion quarter into the beer batter, then coat in the seasoned flour mixture.
  7. Place the coated onions in a single layer on a greased baking sheet.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Serve with your favorite dipping sauce and enjoy!
