Ingredients

  • 2 packed cups of standard flour
  • 1 tsp of baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp of salt
  • 1/2 cup of small salted butter pieces
  • 1 cup of milk

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 400°F.
  • In a big mixing bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, and salt together. Add small pieces of butter to the bowl.
  • Use your hands or a pastry blender to combine the flour mixture and butter until it becomes crumbly and the butter pieces are about the size of peas.
  • Pour in the milk and stir with a wooden spoon until well combined, being careful not to overmix.
  • Turn the mixture out onto a floured surface and roll it out to about 3/4 inch thickness.
  • Cut out biscuits with a biscuit cutter or cookie cutter and place them on an ungreased cookie sheet or iron skillet, making sure they touch for a higher rise during baking.
  • Bake for 10 minutes or until they are browned.
