German Meatloaf

Don't Lose This Recipe

You can eat it with any side or cold the next day on a slice of toast. I’ve got my Meatloaf recipe from my grandpa (like probably many of you use a family recipe). He just made the best Meatloaf of all time. I’ve never had one that juicy and full of flavors anywhere else. Like I said, it can be served with anything. I usually do it the original Bavarian way tho, with some pan baked potatoes and brown gravy. Mmmh yummy, just writing about it, makes me wanna have it again right now!

  • 1lbs ground beef
  • 1 onion
  • 1 egg
  • 3 tablespoons bread crumbs
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • salt and pepper
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon thyme
  • 1 tablespoon parsley
  • 1 tablespoon basil
  • 1 tablespoon sweet paprika
  • 1 tablespoon mustard

  • Cut your onion very small
  • In a large bowl combine ALL ingredients
  • Knead for about 5 minutes (the more you knead the better the flavor will be later
  • Form the meat to a meatloaf shape
  • Place in the fridge for 30 minutes
  • Preheat your oven to 395°F
  • Take meat out of the fridge and transfer to the baking dish of your choice (brownie pan, meatloaf pan)
  • Bake for 40 minutes
  • Let rest 5 minutes before cutting it
