  • 2 lbs pork ribs
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the ketchup, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, apple cider vinegar, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, black pepper, and olive oil.
  • Place the ribs into a large Crockpot and season with salt.
  • Pour the barbecue sauce over the ribs and turn the Crockpot to low.
  • Cook on low for 8 hours, or until the ribs are tender.
  • Serve the ribs with the remaining barbecue sauce. Enjoy!

Notes

The ribs should be cooked for at least 8 hours, but can be cooked overnight for even more flavor.
If you don’t have a Crockpot, you can also cook the ribs in the oven at 325°F for about 2 hours.

I liked the flavor of these ribs. However, as in all Crockpot BBQ recipes that I have tried, I’ve never been able to get the ribs to have a thick glaze and even those charred bits as the photo shows.

I am skeptical that preparing this recipe could yield the ribs in the photo. Once the ribs were fall off the bone tender, I removed the ribs from the crockpot, to a foil lined pan, brushed a bottled BBQ sauce on top and then put them under the broiler for about 10 minutes.

IMO, the instructions should be modified to include directions on how to create the ribs that are shown on the photo.
