WHY YOU’LL LOVE THIS RECIPE
I’ve tested this recipe multiple times to get the perfect balance of flavors and textures. The sour cream keeps the bread incredibly moist, while layering the apples and cinnamon-sugar creates pockets of sweetness throughout. The vanilla glaze soaks in slightly for that authentic fritter taste!

HOW TO MAKE APPLE FRITTER BREAD
Step 1: Prepare Your Pan
- Preheat oven to 350°F
- Spray a 9×5 loaf pan with nonstick spray
- Line with parchment paper for easy removal
Step 2: Mix The Fillings
- Combine diced apples, sugar, and cinnamon in a bowl
- Stir well and set aside to let flavors meld
Step 3: Make the Batter
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
- Using an electric mixer, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes. Don’t rush this step – it’s crucial for a tender bread!
- Beat in eggs one at a time, then mix in vanilla extract.
- Alternate adding flour mixture and sour cream to the butter mixture, starting and ending with flour (mix in 3 batches of flour and 2 batches of sour cream).
Step 4: Layer and Bake
- Pour half the batter into your prepared pan, spreading evenly.
- Layer half the apple mixture on top.
- Add remaining batter, then top with remaining apples.
- Bake for 50-60 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean. Tent with foil during the last 15 minutes if top browns too quickly.
Step 5: Finish and Glaze
- Cool in pan for 15 minutes, then remove to a wire rack.
- While bread cools, whisk together glaze ingredients until smooth.
- Once bread is completely cool, drizzle with glaze.
PRO TIPS FOR SUCCESS
- Use firm baking apples – they’ll hold their shape better
- Room temperature ingredients are crucial for the best texture
- Don’t overmix the batter once you add the flour
- The bread is even better the next day as flavors develop
STORAGE TIPS
- Keep at room temperature up to 4 days
- Freezes beautifully for up to 3 months
- If freezing, add glaze after thawing
