Janet, I love your name, by the way, I have a great suggestion! Seriously! I am a fairly newly diagnosed diabetic, and I used to love to bake (and eat) all of these types of wonderful things. You could open up to a whole new clientele if you could make and advertise these recipes using almond flour and Stevia and things that would lower the carbs a lot! Not only diabetics, but many people are doing the Keto diet, very, very similar to diabetic diet, would really appreciate it! Many of the things that I have looked into and tried with these types of ingredients are delicious! Thank-you so much! Sincerely, Janet Lieb

I second that! I would imagine the substitutes would work. We should try!

I haven’t tried this recipe yet, but I have made them in the past and I always have trouble with the flaps. They always seem to open up on me and I have tried many different techniques to keep them closed and nothing. Not sure what I am doing wrong.

When you say 1 stick of butter do you mean 4 or 8 oz stick

    • Vernie

I think the most acceptable butter or pork comes in a 1 pound box made up of 4 sticks ,8oz each so if you get 4oz sticks then there’s probably 8 of them. Just my thinking.

My grandmother made kolaches all the time my grandmother was called “Bubby” the original kolach are make with yeast. Although this recipe is very good, nothing compares to the original dough. Also there are fillings made by a company called solo they have prune and apricot and poppy seed and strawberry and Cherry delicious fillings the only one they don’t have is the cheese one that my Bubby used to make all the time
